Government guidance regarding key workers, schools and childcare

Government guidance regarding key workers, schools and childcare

The government has now provided more information regarding key workers and access to schools, early years settings and childcare.

Key workers include those working in:

  • Health and social care
  • Education and childcare
  • Key public services
  • Local and national government
  • Food and other necessary goods
  • Public safety and national security
  • Transport
  • Utilities, communication and financial services

This further definition helps us to determine which members of staff are considered to be ‘key workers’ for the purposes of determining school places.  We are also working with schools and other childcare providers to support them in ensuring that those parents who are identified as key workers are appropriately supported with childcare through out this period.

We have summarised the government’s advice here.
