Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) update
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) update – 15/04/20
Following delivery last week of a stopgap of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), we have now collected a second allocation of PPE from the Cheshire Resilience Forum (CRF) delivery centre.
Supply of PPE remains a logistical challenge, both nationally and locally. We use around 9,000 items of PPE a day. We also need to recognise that regular changes in national Public Health England (PHE) guidance for use of PPE has an impact on our limited supplies. Our supplies are primarily used by social care staff providing support and direct personal care to our most vulnerable residents within our care homes and their own homes.
In addition to supplies from central government, we continue to seek PPE through local procurement and we are very grateful for donations from local businesses and organisations.
