Village Groups

There are a number of active groups in the village; you can find out more about them below. If you spot anything missing – let us know!

Lower Withington Women's Institute

The Women’s Institute plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.

The group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm at the Parish Hall, Lower Withington.

Mums and Tots Group

This local group meets regularly to have fun! Each session involves time to play with toys, enjoy a craft activity and have a biscuit and a drink – juice for the tots and tea or coffee for the mums! The there is a story and a chance to make some noise with the musical instruments! Why not join us?

The group meets every Tuesday morning during term time from 10am until 11.30am at the Methodist Chapel in Lower Withington (opposite the Village Green).

Lower Withington Parish Hall Tennis Court

Lower Withington Parish Hall have a tennis court facility at the back of the Parish Hall, which is for the use of members only. For the 2015 season we had 21 members and in order for us to continue with this fantastic facility in our village, we would like to encourage as many people as possible to utilise the courts and become members for 2016. If we can show an increase in the use of this facility over the coming years, this will help our decision to look to fund a new court surface as and when it becomes essential to continue with a good playing surface.

Annual subscriptions are £30.00 for Adults, £10.00 for Juniors (under 16) or £70.00 for a Family membership

For 2016 we are also looking to see if there is any interest within our village or the surrounding villages to have any of the following: * an open day with coaching activities where you could also look to become a member and show any interest in club sessions / coaching sessions

* club sessions to be held one evening or a Saturday each week where you can just turn up and play

* coaching sessions for children and/or adults

* tennis competitions

If you are interested in any of these, joining the tennis club, have any other suggested ideas or could help out with any coaching sessions / club sessions then please contact Lisa Kennerley on 01477 571626 or email to lkenners@gmail.com

Lower Withington Parish Hall Tennis Court rules:

  • The tennis court is for the use of members who have paid their annual subscription
  • Members should always have their membership card and shoe tags with them whilst playing
  • The use of the tennis court is on a turn up and play basis rather than a booking system, however if any members would like to reserve a regular slot each week, then we can look to accommodate this and put a notice here and also in the notice board at the Parish Hall
  • Whilst you are playing if other members are waiting to play, please look to limit your game to 30/45 minutes to allow them to play
  • Ensure you lock the padlock when you leave the tennis court and do not allow anyone else to have the code
  • The Padlock code will be changed on a regular basis and the new code will be emailed and/or text to you accordingly, so please ensure your email/mobile details are kept up to date, if they change please email lkenners@gmail.com your new details
  • Lower Withington Parish Hall Terms apply
