The sun shone brightly for the 2015 Rose Day and a good time was had by all.
The local MP David Rutley joined the procession with the retiring Rose Queen Alice Kennerley and her attendants in a classic American car through the village, accompanied by the Over Alderley Concert band, the Womens Institute, the new Rose Queen Rebecca Blackburn and her attendants along with local children and Rose Queens from neighbouring parishes.
The procession continued into the ring where the crowning ceremony took place. Once the formalities were over the Rose Day was officially declared open by David Rutley MP.
Entertainment was provided by Nick Barnes (magician), Alan Bickerton (sheep shearer), Jez Frith (dog agility) plus Dawn Venables and Julie Halman who organised all the races in the main ring.
New to 2015 was a large marquee serving teas and cakes on the field and story teepee with crafts for the children.
On the field the games included Cow Milking, Hoopla, The Slippery Pole, Splat the Rat, a Coconut Shy, Wet The Wally, Bottle Tombola, Find the Key, giant Connect4, a Sweetie game, plus very busy stalls run by the Chapel and the Womens Institute. The bar and BBQ provided food and drink throughout the afternoon to the music played by Over Alderley Concert Band.
Additional attractions include the traction engine and vintage tractors, plus Granelli’s Ice Cream van
Looking forward to seeing you next year !
